2 Corinthians 4
Introduction
In Chapter One of Second Corinthians, Paul discussed God's comfort when it comes to life's plans. That is, when things don't quite work out according to the plans we make. Then in Chapter Two, he described God's desire to provide comfort in the restoration to fellowship of a sinning, yet repentant believer. Following in Chapter Three, we also looked at the comfort God demonstrates in the ongoing ministry of Jesus. Now in Chapter Four, we will review another area in which most of us need a little extra help: understanding and accepting God's comfort when we suffer for Christ.
As believers, when we experience tragedy, illness, persecution or pain, the hope we take hold of is that it's not the end. Our present agony, trial or tribulation is not all there is. Paul will remind us that knowing our eternal destination, a place without sin and suffering, can help us live above the pain we face in this life.
God's comfort is the only lasting comfort we will ever know. Have you looked to Him in your present circumstance? Maybe you don't think your problem is big enough for Him. But He cares about everything that concerns us. Will you go to Him now?
